چکیده

Abstract. Basin-scale salt flow and the evolution of structures in rift basins is mainly driven by sub- supra-salt faulting sedimentary loading. Crustal extension often accompanied followed thermal subsidence leading to tilting graben flanks, which might induce an additional basinward-directed driver for tectonics. We designed a new experimental analogue apparatus capable integrating processes sub-salt such that overlapping effects on deformation viscous substratum brittle overburden can be simulated. The presented study was performed demonstrate main functionality procedure setup, demonstrating differences structural between conditions pure extension, tilting, combined with tilting. Digital image correlation top-view stereoscopic images applied reveal 3D displacement strain patterns. results these experiments suggest affected flank inclination, downward movement affects entire flanks basin. Supra-salt occurring close centre overprinted movement; i.e. amount reduced or extensional faults zones are shortened. At basin margins, thin-skinned developed as result gravity gliding. A comparison natural examples reveals fault also observed at margins many salt-bearing indicating gliding played role basins.

Salt-related Genes Expression Pattern in Salt-Tolerant and Salt-Sensitive Cultivars of Cotton (Gossypium sp.) under NaCl Stress

Salinity is one of the most important limitation factors in development of agricultural products. Cotton has a relative tolerance to salinity; however, salinity reduces its growth during germination and seedling stages. In this research, split-factorial design of time based on randomized complete block design with 3 replications was used. The real-time PCR results for, root, stem, and leaves of...

Salt Mechanics Primer for Near-Salt and Sub-Salt Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Field Developments

The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) is the most active deepwater region in the world and provides some of the greatest challenges in scope and opportunity for the oil and gas industry. The complex geologic settings and significant water and reservoir depths necessitate high development costs, in addition to requiring innovating technology. The investment costs are substantial: because of the extreme water...

Modelling Salt Transport in Baltic Basins

Water quality models combine fluid-flow relations with biological regressions, all on a spatially complex domain. For many applications, a computationally simple lumped parameter model with regressed parameters suffices, while for others where a more fundamental approach may be worth the extra development and computational effort. A simple example modelling the transport of salt in interconnect...

Inversion of gravity data for base salt

We develop an algorithm for inverting gravity data to construct estimates of the base of salt and investigate the sensitivity of the recovered model to four different sources of errors. The inversion algorithm is based on the approach of Tikhonov regularization. The prior information is typically shape and depth of the top salt and of a known part of base salt from seismic image. The error in su...
